Filgo is amongst the largest petroleum product distributor in Quebec. With over 50 years of experience in the field and a partner of Shell since its beginnings, Filgo is present in most regions of Quebec, in three main sectors of activity :

Our model is primarily based on developing autonomous employees locally, by means of a specific plan, regardless of their roles or fields of activity. Milestones in Our Growth

1956
Founding of the Philippe Gosselin & Ass. Company in Sainte-Marie by Mr. Philippe Gosselin. At this time, the company delivers heating oil and is the first distributor in the area. Its association with Shell and the use of their brand began at this time and continues until today.

1983
In order to diversify its activities, the company purchases its first service station in Sainte-Marie and begins development in this sector.

1986-1996
Well established in the Beauce, the company develops its distribution of petroleum products and settles in other regions. It expands its activities in Chaudiere-Appalache by establishing itself in Theford Mines and setting up in two new regions : Centre-du-Québec (Victoriaville) and Bas-Saint-Laurent (Rivière-du-Loup).

1999
To complete its product offering in its service stations, Filgo creates its own chain of convenience stores : Super Soir. The addition of this chain enables retailers-owners to belong to a reliable and competitive network, and for consumers to access a large range of known products, all under the same roof.

2001
In order to continue offering a personalized service based on proximity, the company consolidates its territories by acquiring two retailers, one in Saint-Charles-de-Bellechasse and the other in Saint-Pascal-de-Kamouraska.

2006-2007
Shell Canada entrusts its distribution activities to Filgo. Filgo acquires Les huiles Norco in Montreal, as well as Shell’s Thermoshell division which own branches in Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay and Drummondville.

2008
Pétroles JMB situated in Cabano and Pétroplus in Chicoutimi both join the Filgo group, thus enabling the company to improve its presence in these territories.

Filgo purchases a retail network from MRG Drouin which includes 10 retailers-owners and 2 corporate offices.

2009
Filgo establishes itself in Montérégie by purchasing Les Pétroles Dupont whose head office is located in Bedford. This agreement also includes service stations and a major distribution network.

The company also acquires Pétroles Deshaies located in Bécancour and covering Centre-du-Québec and Mauricie.

2010
Filgo lance sa propre bannière d’essence, Miraco, qui est en lien avec la vision de croissance de l’entreprise et qui s’avère un outil important de développement dans l’objectif de desservir différents types de marchés.

2011
Shell entrusts Filgo with the distribution of all Shell, Pennzoil® and Quaker State® lubricants in Quebec acting as the Alliance Distributor.

2012
Filgo updates its name and trade image.

2015
Signing of the amalgamation agreement between Groupe Filgo & Sonic, and submission of the file with the Competition Bureau of Canada.

2016
Project accepted without conditions by the Competition Bureau of Canada. Official launch of the new company : Groupe Filgo-Sonic.
